The Natural Capital and Environmental Markets Initiative (NCEMI) is committed to protecting the privacy of any personal information it receives and collects. We are committed to using personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act).
NCEMI delivers its services to individuals and organisations. To do this we need to collect and store some of your personal information. This Statement explains how NCEMI collects, stores, uses, discloses and otherwise handles any personal information relating to individuals undertaking courses with NCEMI . It also explains how you can contact us to access and correct the personal information we hold about you or complain about any suspected privacy breach. Nothing in this statement limits any of our other obligations at law.
1. What information do we collect and what do we do with it?
NCEMI can only collect personal information by lawful and fair means and will only collect personal information when it is reasonably necessary for our core functions and/or activities. Personal information we may collect includes your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, details of your business with us and any information we require to provide services to you.
We collect this information when you enroll as a student or subscriber (“learner”) on our site or related courses, as part of the enrolling process.
We may send you emails about our site and related course(s), registration, course content, your course progress or other updates. We may also use your email to inform you about changes to the course, survey you about your usage, or collect your opinion.
2. How do you get my consent?
Your personal information will only be stored on our database, disclosed by us, and/or shared with a third party with your consent.
When you provide us with personal information to become a learner on our site, make a purchase, or participate in the course, you imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.
If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.
Should you choose not to provide personal information we may not be able to provide you with the services you require.
3. How do I withdraw my consent?
If after you opt-in, you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, for the continued collection, use or disclosure of your information, at any time, by contacting us at [email protected]
4. Quality of Personal Information
NCEMI takes reasonable steps to make sure the personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and current. 6. Thinkific
Our course and site is hosted by Thinkific Labs Inc. (“Thinkific”). They provide us with the online course creation platform that allows us to sell our product/services to you.
Your data is stored through Thinkific’s data storage, databases and the general Thinkific application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall.
7. Payment:
If you make a purchase on our site, we use a third party payment processor such as Stripe or Paypal. Payments are encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction.
All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our site and related courses and its service providers.

8. Third Party Services
In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.
However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions. For these providers, we recommend that you read their privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.
Certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located in a different jurisdiction than either you or us. If you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.
As an example, if you are located in Australia and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.
Once you leave our course website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.

You can help to protect the privacy of your personal information by keeping passwords secret and by ensuring that you log out of the website when you have completed your transaction. If you become aware of any security breach, please contact NCEMI as soon as possible.
If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption. Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

You can access your personal information that we hold, with some exceptions as allowed by law.
